The United Nations Special Political and Decolonization Committee (4th General Assembly Committee) currently addresses five specific agenda items: the effects of atomic radiation, questions relating to information, review of the question of peacekeeping operations, review of political operations, discussions about the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and lastly international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.
This particular committee adopts the topic of international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space within this conference. The main objective contains discussion regarding space colonization and how to handle its ethics, outer space tourism and assurance of safety standards. Most importantly, addressing peacekeeping regarding research and political development. SPECPOL recognizes the significance of historical events and development leading up to today’s viewpoint. Adopted plans are to be discussed and acknowledged in order to achieve the guaranteed peacekeeping status.
